  1. Just seen the article by Andy Buchan in Bishopston Matters on Ernest Bethell. I am so glad to ee that he is getting the publicity that he deserves but would like to point out a couple of factual errors in the piece.
He was born at 54, not 45 Egerton Road. This was apparently once called Egerton Villa before the houses were renumbered. The South Korean journalists and academics called on us twice just before Covid and told us about him. They talked about Bethell, their admiration for him and his role in their nation’s history. They wanted to see the house he was born in and the deeds and papers related to the history of the house. As a result of their visits we acquired copies of local records and of contemporary Korean coverage of his his life and legacy. We can show you more if you like.
