David Goldblatt began life as a medical student and ended up with a degree in Sociology. After finishing a PhD in Social Theory and the Environment, he went on to lecture at The Open University. Goldblatt is a Tottenham fan and the acclaimed author of The Ball is Round: A Global History of Football (2007) and The Game of Our Lives (2015).
