Carrie Hitchcock was a freelance community photography facilitator in the 80s and 90s bringing her mobile darkroom to youth and community venues throughout Bristol. She established the Barton Hill Photography project in 1984 and ran it for eleven years. The project aimed to encourage the practice of black and white photography and darkroom skills as a tool towards community development and a means for marginalised communities to represent their lives themselves. She has also documented the work of various community organisations as well as developing her own projects from the early 80s to the present. You can see her work and published collections on her website, carriehitchcockphotography.co.uk .
