Dorothy Byrne spent almost 20 years as Head of News and Current Affairs at Channel 4 and was then appointed C4’s Editor-at-Large. Until recently she was President of Murray Edwards College in Cambridge. She delivered the 2019 MacTaggart Lecture at the Edinburgh TV Festival criticising politicians for lying and exposing misogyny in the industry, and published Trust Me, I’m Not a Politician. Her TV career began as producer of ground-breaking documentary strands World in Action and The Big Story at ITV. Her programmes have won many plaudits including Emmys, Baftas and Royal Television Society (RTS) awards. She is a Fellow of the RTS for her Outstanding Contribution to TV Journalism. She also won the Grierson Trustees Award for her contribution to documentary making, the Women in Television Award, and a Scottish Bafta for her Outstanding Contribution to Broadcasting.
