Dee Daly is a nurse by training and has worked in the NHS for over 30 years, She is the daughter of a Dublin mother and a West Cork father who was born in Woking and brought up in an Irish emigrant community in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. She went to Ruskin College in 1990 where she studied Labour Studies and then returned in 2005 to do a Public History MA with the dissertation subject; “What did you do in the war granda? Public History, Ireland and the Great War” which looked at the role of Irish, working class Catholic soldiers in the Great War through the experience of her own grandfather. Dee lives in Hastings and would much prefer to be doing history full time than working in the NHS still but has her pension to think of.
