– The South Wales Record Society is launching its\u00a0latest volume, William Downing Evans (1811-97):\u00a0Poetry and Poverty in Nineteenth-Century Newport.\u00a0Authors, Ian and Wendy Dear, will be talking about\u00a0this Newport man who lived through the Chartist\u00a0era and was local Registrar and Clerk to the Poor\u00a0Law Guardians for half a century and strove to\u00a0improve the town\u2019s sanitation.<\/p>\n
