Bristol Radical History Group are happy and very proud to announce that Hartcliffe Betrayed, the Fading of a Post War Dream<\/em><\/a> authored by Paul Smith has been awarded joint runner-up for the Alan Ball Award 2024<\/a> in the category of best Local History hardcopy publication.<\/p>\n

Since 1986, the Local Studies Group of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals, acting on behalf of the Library Services Trust, has given annual awards to recognise outstanding contributions in local history publishing.<\/p>\n

According to a spokesperson for the Alan Ball award:<\/p>\n

The judges were extremely impressed by every aspect of the book its content, illustrations, presentation, and the research behind it. There was a lot of debate, and you narrowly missed out on\u00a0winning the award. However, you should be very proud of what you have achieved.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Congratulations go to Paul Smith (author), Richard Musgrove (publications coordinator) and all those who read, made suggestions and proofed the book.<\/p>\n
