Events will take place in Bristol at Georgian House Museum and Greenbank Cemetery in August and the Bearpit in October this year, accompanied by school workshops. <em>Daughters of Igbo Woman<\/em> is supported by Arts Council England, Bristol Culture and Journeys to Justice.<\/p>\n<p>Ros Martin, Project Director said: \u201c<em>Daughters of Igbo Woman<\/em> revisits British colonial history and its impact on three generations of women from one family: a daughter, a mother and grandmother. It resurrects a memory of each woman\u2019s invisible history in their landscape and creatively re-contextualises these in the Bristol landscape.\u00a0 Us, African women writers from three continents are evoking ancestor\u2019s voices in symbolic reconnecting and honoring of ancestral spirits who endured forced migration, separation &amp; loss; adapting and surviving.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nigerian writer <a href=\"https:\/\/daughtersofigbowoman.wordpress.com\/2017\/07\/11\/meet-the-artists-akachi-adimora-ezeigbo\/\">Akachi Adimora Ezeigbo<\/a>, African-British writer <u>Ros Martin<\/u> and filmmaker <a href=\"https:\/\/daughtersofigbowoman.wordpress.com\/2017\/07\/11\/meet-the-artists-vida-rawlins\/\">Vida Rawlins<\/a>, born in the UK now living on Caribbean island of St Kitts &amp; Nevis, have each created a film about one of the women. The films will be shown as part of a digital installation at Georgian House from <strong>19th to 22nd August<\/strong> at Greenbank Cemetery Supervisor\u2019s Lodge <strong>26th and 27th August <\/strong>and in The Bearpit <strong>on 4th and 5th October<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>There will be a live <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/227370914454319\/?acontext=%7B%22ref%22%3A%223%22%2C%22ref_newsfeed_story_type%22%3A%22regular%22%2C%22action_history%22%3A%22null%22%7D\">memorial tribute<\/a> to Frances Coker (1767-1820) \u2013 an African maidservant of the Georgian House born enslaved on Mountravers plantation on the Caribbean Island of Nevis and buried in Easton\u2019s Greenbank Cemetery. The memorial will take place from <strong>3.30pm on 26th August<\/strong> in the disused <strong>Greenbank Chapel<\/strong> and will commemorate the 250th year since Fanny\u2019s birth. Local artists Cleo Alberto Lake, Alphonse Daudet Touna, Nia Bimkubwa and Ros Martin will lead the memorial with original dance, song and reflections. All events are free, but <u>bookings<\/u> are required for the Greenbank event.
