Due to popular demand, the Remembering the Real World War One<\/a> history group are re-staging the\u00a0Smoke, Gas, Strikes, Metal And Slums<\/b>\u00a0walk<\/span>\u00a0that was so well-attended twice\u00a0last year.<\/p>\n

A two hour\u00a0walk\u00a0<\/span>through St Philips and the Dings where Alfred Jefferies, the only man from Bristol shot for desertion, and his family lived and worked, including his brother Arthur who was killed in action on the Somme. Learn\u00a0about\u00a0the forgotten industries, back streets, schools and social history of Bristol in the early 1900s. If you’ve missed it previously or enjoyed it so much you want to do it again, now’s your chance.<\/p>\n

The walk is mainly on the flat with one short incline. It will start and finish at Hydra Bookshop on Old Market where will be a collection towards expenses at the end.<\/p>\n
