{"id":7033,"date":"2015-11-05T22:35:09","date_gmt":"2015-11-05T22:35:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.brh.org.uk\/site\/?post_type=events&#038;p=7033"},"modified":"2026-03-21T18:57:48","modified_gmt":"2026-03-21T18:57:48","slug":"eastville-workhouse-burial-ground-memorial-unveiling-ceremony","status":"publish","type":"events","link":"https:\/\/www.brh.org.uk\/site\/events\/eastville-workhouse-burial-ground-memorial-unveiling-ceremony\/","title":{"rendered":"Eastville Workhouse Burial Ground"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Rosemary Green, Eastville, BS5 6LB.<\/p>\n<p>Residents of East Park Estate are to unveil a memorial to more than 4,000 men, women and children who died in Eastville\u2019s notorious Workhouse between 1851 and 1895 and were buried in unmarked paupers\u2019 graves in what is now Rosemary Green.<\/p>\n<p>A six foot Welsh slate standing stone, carved by local stone mason and sculptor Matthew Billington using designs from pupils of May Park Primary School, will be erected on the disused burial ground which has remained unmarked for over 150 years.
