Planning meeting regarding Eastville Workhouse and remembering the paupers buried in Rosemary Green.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Thursday 9th October 7.00pm-9.00pm.<\/p>\n

St Anne’s Church, St Leonards Road, Greenbank, Bristol, BS5 6JN<\/p>\n

It has been over a month since we first met to discuss the 3,500 or so unmarked ‘paupers’ graves in Rosemary Green. Since then a number of people who were not at this original meeting have contacted Bristol Radical History Group (BRHG) to register an interest, including some who have relatives buried at the site.<\/p>\n

This remembrance project has the possibility of growing so we need to meet to plan the way forward.<\/p>\n

We will be discussing the different ideas on how to commemorate the paupers buried there; these are some of the ideas from the last meeting:<\/p>\n

Geo-physics exploration of the site
\nBook of rememberance
\nWebsite
\nStatue or monument
\nPlayground (Hazel)
\nA plaque (BRHG & Mike Baker)
\nPamphlet and data (BRHG, in progress)
\nEvent on the Green (BRHG)
\nInvolvement of local schools, May Park (BRHG)
\nSculpted wooden bench with Workhouse outline (Angela)
\nLarge scale workhouse photo\/poster to match skyline (Alan)<\/p>\n

We need to discuss how to raise funds for these ideas, including finding out about other proposed projects in the area.<\/p>\n
