Key note speaker:\u00a0Professor Malcolm Chase (Leeds University)<\/strong>\u00a0 “Welsh Chartism: Looking beyond November 1839″<\/p>\n

Malcolm Chase is the leading Chartist historian in the UK today – author of ‘Chartism: a new history” (2007)<\/p>\n

In this lecture, Professor Chase will draw upon his recent\u00a0Llafur<\/em>\u00a0article (2010) “Rethinking Welsh Chartism” and place the Rising at Newport in 1839 into a \u00a0broader context, considering not only the English risings that didn’t happen, but also the preceding 1837-38 Canadian Rebellions.<\/p>\n
