Avengers & Madmen – Propagandists Of The Deed & The Dawn Of Modern Terrorism – Matt Carr<\/h2>\n

The author of the controversial (and banned) history of terrorism, The Infernal Machine, looks at the anarchist assassins of the late 19th century. Carr considers how such attacks were perceived by their protagonists and spectators, and how the heroic template that they developed has been reproduced in various other contexts.<\/p>\n

Author of The Infernal Machine \u2013 A History of Terrorism*<\/em>, the first edition (2007) of which was pulped after a Saudi lawsuit succeeded in suppressing it. Matt has worked as a freelance journalist for a number of publications writing about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Sicilian Mafia, state terror in Central America and the Spanish government\u2019s use of death squads against ETA. He is also the author of the acclaimed memoir My Father\u2019s House<\/em>.<\/p>\n

*Note that this book’s title was Unknown Soldiers: How Terrorism Transformed the Modern World <\/em>when it was first published in the UK. The book is still available as The Infernal Machine \u2013 A History of Terrorism<\/em> in the USA, where the liable laws are different.<\/p>\n
