After a four year hiatus the fourth Dorset Radical Bookfair<\/strong> will take place from 11:00 to 17:00<\/strong> on Saturday<\/strong> 7th October 2023<\/strong> at Bad Hand Coffee warehouse <\/strong>just off the Bournemouth Triangle (BH2 5RT)<\/strong>. Free entry to the public, with Vegan food for donations all day.<\/p>\n Along with bookstalls<\/strong> (including BRHG) there are some history related talks<\/strong> including:<\/p>\n 12:00 ~ 13:00<\/strong><\/p>\n Confessions Of a Non-violent Revolutionary: Bean Stew, Blisters, Blockades and Benders.<\/strong><\/p>\n The true story of a peace activist in Thatcher\u2019s Britain by Chris Savory.<\/p>\n 14:00 ~ 15:00<\/strong><\/p>\n The Idea<\/em> \u2013 a new book by Nick Heath<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Nick Heath\u2019s book on anarchist communism is the first such comprehensive work on the subject. Heath reveals that that anarchist communism had a leading influence on anarchist movements in many countries.<\/p>\n 15:00 ~ 16:00<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI fear there will be blood spilt this evening\u201d: The 1831 reform riots in Dorset.<\/strong> Roger Ball (BRHG).<\/p>\n In October 1831, the defeat of the Second Reform Bill in the House of Lords led to a wave of pro-reform public protests and disturbances across Britain. This talk looks at the riots in Dorchester, Blandford and Sherborne which pitted artisans and labourers against the Yeomanry and Dragoon Guards.<\/p>\n 16:00 ~ 17:00<\/strong><\/p>\n Fighting Women<\/strong> \u2013 a book by Isabella Lorusso.<\/p>\n For 17 years Isabella Lorusso travelled through Spain talking to women who put their lives on the line to fight fascism \u2013 and, too often on a second front, confronting men whose commitment to liberation stopped at their own front door.
