Hunt of Bristol Radical History Group will be presenting an online tour, based on the Bristol Radical History Group publication <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brh.org.uk\/site\/pamphleteer\/angela-carters-provincial-bohemia\/\">Angela Carter&#8217;s Provincial Bohemia&#8217;: The Counterculture in 1960s and 1970s Bristol and Bath<\/a>. <\/em>This event is part of <a href=\"https:\/\/beinghumanfestival.org\/event\/it-felt-like-year-one-a-tour-of-angela-carters-60s-bristol\/\">Being Human 2020<\/a>, the national festival of the humanities.<\/p>\n<p>Angela Carter was one of the late 20th century\u2019s most acclaimed novelists and came of age as a writer in 1960s Clifton, where she experienced life in post-war Bristol, looking at a horizon bombed-out and derelict, but also booming with reconstruction schemes. On this guided virtual tour through Clifton and Hotwells, revisit the places and counterculture that inspired her writing, in a society undergoing transformation and renewal so profound, that she declared: \u201cTruly, it felt like Year One.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This is a free event, bookable through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.co.uk\/e\/it-felt-like-year-one-a-tour-of-angela-carters-1960s-bristol-tickets-115347010012\">Eventbrite<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Rich Grove has also designed a downloadable map of countercultural Clifton and Hotwells, called &#8216;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.brh.org.uk\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Angglea-Carter-Walk_DOWNLOAD-1-FINAL.pdf\">Truly, It Felt Like Year One&#8217;: A Guided Tour of Angela Carter&#8217;s 1960s Bristol&#8217;<\/a> with content produced by Stephen E.
