Martin Wight lectures in History at Cardiff University. Originally from the English Midlands, he has lived in Wales all of his adult life and is a fluent Welsh speaker. He is author of Wales and Socialism: National Identity and Political Culture Before the Great War (University of Wales Press, 2016).
