Dave Chapple, working as a North Somerset School Cleaner, was a NUPE delegate to Bristol TUC from 1976 to 1984; a Bristol ska, reggae and soul DJ; and was, during 1982/3, a member of the International Marxist Group/IMG in the city. Dave is a retired Somerset delivery postman, a member of the Bristol Branches of the UPW, UCW and now CWU unions for 39 years, and was Branch Chair from 2008 to 2014. Dave is a historian, and two of his nine published books have Bristol themes: “Bristol, 13 miles due East” (autobiography); and his major study: “Grasshoppers, Stonkers and Straight Eights: George Massey and Bristol Post Office Workers 1930 to 1976”. Dave is a member of the TUC-affiliated Writers Guild.
