The "Gentrification In New York" due to take place today has been cancelled. The speaker, Juan, had travelled to Paris from this country to do a talk but was pulled by British imigration when he tried to board the Eruostar to return to London. He is currently in Paris and unable to return to this country.

During the same week that Down With The Fences! is running there will be an art event called Not A Penny Of The Pay, Not A Second On The Day happening on Stokes Croft. The exhibition will feature urban artists from around the world. Find our more here.

Down With The Fences! The Struggle for the Global Commons announced. From Magna Carta to the enclosure rioters of the Forest of Dean; from the stripping of the oil commons of the 20th century to the enclosure of the peoples’ game in the Premier League; from the rise of the corporations to the massive gentrification programme launched in our cities, we will be examine the process of enclosure, the forces that drive it and some of the historical and current confrontations that have occurred as a result.
Speakers include Peter Linebaugh, George Caffentzis, David Goldblatt & David Poole.
